I don’t know about the story itself… it manages to be plain while still being “all over the place”. it’s as if the author had an idea then realized it was unoriginal and decided to shove in any twist he could think of.
The poorly written story aside, far more then the actual (boring) main plot itself, I find it rather interesting how the heroine wasn’t betrayed by a sister stealing her man… but a brother. and then on top of that, the brothers is a not abused by the guy he stole from his sister, while still scheming behind the scenes because he only seduced the other guy because he wanted power.
On top of that, he isn’t stupid either. In fact the brother is probably one of the smartest villain antagonist that I have read about in a story like this. His only downfall is that he is facing a character that is teamed up with the strongest power in the Empire while herself being beloved by the strongest spirits and having been reborn so she already knows everything.
How the hell would the brother have a chance against that? But at least he isn’t losing because he is stupid.
