A heartbreaking, fantasy romance of the two wounded souls finding their way back to each other again. “He abandoned me as a child, and I lost my voice. When I was reunited with him I was already broken.” Little Bella, a war orphan who once trusted for survival; grows up carrying an abandonment wound. It’s a life without purpose, she’s the unseen, unheard, and a war slave. Kiris embraces Bella, a girl he once abandoned, now has been forgotten. Maybe it is too late when he’d found her again. Will she get over past hurts and believe in love again, when there is too much damage done?
I was not expecting this story to be so heartbreakingly, gut wrenchingly twisted and sad. I have cried so many times while reading this. I dont know how the author managed to make me root for Kiris even though hes a vile and wicked villian for most of the story. Maybe I just have bad taste in men. All I know is that I feel guilty for not shipping Eden, and I fully acknowledge that the only man who truly deserves her is Krim (even if they are just friends), but none of that changes how conflicted I feel when I see Kiris broken by his own misdeeds. Its an odd mix of wanting him to suffer even more pain than Bella endured, and a deep yearning for their happily ever after.
