If she’s so sure that she’s going to be hurt like Mia “in the book,” then she should also be sure that she’ll live through it and get a happy ending like Mia “in the book.” And she was so sure she’d be alone “with no one by her side” – Is Paul a Nobody to her because his job is in service? If she thinks he’s on the emperor’s side, then why does she believe she’d be allowed to take him with her if she’s sent to that other place?
At this point, she’s just picking and choosing what to be dramatic about. What an exhausting person. I like how the author tried to frame her as intelligent, too, by proposing policies and “researching” stuff. But she pulls stunts like these and just erases that image with her stupidity.
